Aeroplan’s new partnership brings your dream trip closer

That bucket list vacation you’ve been mapping out could be a little bit closer today.

Aeroplan, Canada’s favourite rewards program, has announced that members can now earn and redeem Aeroplan Miles on all car rental in Canada, the U.S. and around the world with Avis Car Rental and Budget Car Rental. Those are two of the largest car agencies in the world.

Aeroplan also announced members will be able to earn and redeem miles with Payless Car Rental in the coming months, adding yet another way to earn valuable points.

Aeroplan members previously were able to earn and redeem points with Avis,
but not Budget, a partner agency, or Payless.

I had a Budget car rental in Toronto this week and was able to earn Aeroplan Miles with the transaction, giving my points a nice boost and getting me a little closer to my next trip. I fly a lot on business, but I also my use points for my wife and I to travel, including a trip next week to Florida to see the Blue Jays play some spring training baseball games. I also use my Aeroplan Miles every year to go see my Dad in California. So the more places I can collect those points, the better.

In addition to using their points for rental cars or airline tickets, Aeroplan members can use miles to buy a wide range of goods, including fashion and accessories, gift cards, iPhones and other electronic goods, at www.aeroplan.com.

“We’re here to help create meaningful moments for our members,” said Kevin O’Brien, Chief Client Officer, Aeroplan. “The addition of Budget, soon to be followed by Payless, means more choice, value and increased flexibility for our members when they’re booking car rentals for both business and leisure.

“Aeroplan will also help deliver value to Avis Budget Group by using data analytics to maximize member relevancy and value through optimized offers,” O’Brien said.

Avis and Budget have more than 11,000 rental locations in approximately 180 countries around the world.

For Avis, members will continue to earn 500 Aeroplan Miles for each eligible Avis car rental at participating airport locations in Canada, the U.S. or internationally, and 250 Aeroplan miles for each eligible rental at participating off-airport locations. Members can continue to redeem Aeroplan Miles for Avis rentals starting at 5,000 miles for any date and destination within Canada, the U.S., Europe and many international spots, including Australia, New Zealand and Latin America. As well, members get 250 miles back every time they redeem miles for a rental with Avis. If they prefer, members also can use their miles to get Avis rental certificates worth $50 or $100 on aeroplan.com.
