New Tahiti Tourism Campaign Stresses Authentic Experiences

Nice to see a new campaign from The Islands of Tahiti.

We all think we know about Tahiti. And, to some extent, most of us do. Pretty much anyone who enjoys travel has seen those exquisite shots of those famous, thatched-roof overwater bungalows stretching out into an Instagram-blue lagoon.
You can find those on several islands in the group, for sure. And, I’m not going to lie, they’re amazing. And romantic as all get out (although I was on a trip by myself).
But what I remember even more about my visit were the warm and wonderful people I met and the equally warm Tahitian culture. I remember talking to a woman making a black pearl necklace on Moorea and falling in love with her smile. I also remember a guy playing an odd-looking ukulele, the beauty of a small canoe resting under a palm tree under the edge of a lagoon, the spiked mountains of Bora Bora and, yes, a few of the hula dancers we got to watch in action.

That’s why I love the new “Pick Your Paradise” campaign that’s been launched by Tahiti Tourisme Canada, which is aimed at getting travellers to learn about and explore the many facets of The Islands of Tahiti.
Here’s what my friends at Tahiti Tourisme Canada sent out today.
The Pick Your Paradise campaign is an opportunity to highlight the well-known Society and Tuamotu Islands, but also the lesser known Austral and Marquesas Islands. This far reaching campaign reveals wonders beyond the classic itinerary that only includes Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora, inviting visitors to go deeper, go farther and go together to these exotic and untouched places. This campaign is a series of videos deployed globally in nine languages reaching a wide international audience.
In addition to the diversity of islands, it is also an opportunity through this campaign to highlight the plethora of experiences that can be had in The Islands of Tahiti. Thirty-six activities are highlighted in this new campaign, from the most adventurous with parasailing or visiting the beautiful caves of Rurutu, to more cultural experiences such staying at a Tahitian Guesthouse or attending a workshop to learn how to make a traditional tapa cloth or hei.

Pick Your Paradise will invite visitors to take an interactive visual tour of The Islands of Tahiti. Using the multiple dualities that The Islands of Tahiti present, the user is guided in a series of adventures, cultural experiences and family activities.
This visual experience aims to encourage users to turn their virtual tour into a real journey. The user can then choose to combine their activities into a video for sharing on social media and book their custom itinerary through a Certified Tahiti Specialist. Since 2016, Tahiti Tourisme has launched several similar campaigns with themes showcasing the dualities of the destination and highlighting the culture through the concept of Mana.
Last year’s annual campaign, Take Me To Tahiti featured real-life couples and families selected through an international casting call on social media. Two couples and a family were selected to experience the destination in ways unique to their interests.

Located in the South Pacific, The Islands of Tahiti are just eight hours by air from California. Surrounded by pristine, crystal clear blue waters, the 118 islands and atolls offer natural beauty, authentic island culture, and unique French Polynesian style. The Islands of Tahiti are world- renowned for their white-sand beaches, stunning turquoise lagoons and varied landscapes ranging from coral atolls to volcanic mountain peaks. Each island offers a variety of accommodation experiences from luxurious resorts with overwater villas, to family guesthouses, to sailing via private charter or scheduled cruise.
Privacy comes naturally in The Islands of Tahiti and offers visitors the space to relax and reconnect and to be Embraced By Mana. Mana is the life force spirit that connects all things in The Islands of Tahiti. Tahiti is halfway between California and Australia, on the same side of the International Date Line as North America and in the same time zone as Hawaii.
It’s hands-down one of my favourite places on this wonderful planet of ours.
