A world-class museum of art. Glorious golf courses. A vibrant downtown.  A new, cutting edge warehouse district. And some of the world’s best hotels. The Palm Beaches is a popular and increasingly diverse destination in south Florida. Here are some great things to see and do, as well as fine places to lay your head. WHERE TO STAY The Breakers: This is the granddaddy of them all, a sumptuous, Italian-influenced seaside beauty that dates back nearly 100 years in its current iteration. WATERLOO REGION, ONTARIO – A lazy canoe ride down one of Canada’s most historic rivers. One of the best meals I’ve had anywhere. A nice, new hotel. A marvellous exhibit on the life of Nelson Mandela. And my first trip to beautiful St. Jacobs. Waterloo Region is only an hour from Toronto Pearson Airport, but it feels like another world. I recently spent a day and-a-bit in the area at the request of Explore Waterloo Region, checking out some natural attractions and taking in some of the sights, all in a respectful and socially-distanced fashion. That more Americans are visiting Toronto is good news. The fact they’re staying longer and spending more is even better. Montreal earlier this month announced they attracted 9.6 million visitors last year, while Vancouver said they brought in 9.4 million folks. Numbers from the Read more

I pulled my Toyota SUV into a parking area and walked towards a gate leading to the main harbour, where I was confronted by around 100 gleaming, white, monstrous (mostly) charter yachts. I had stumbled on the annual Antigua charter yacht show, held here in part because of the incredibly zig-zaggy protected Read more

CHICAGO – Okay, I was a little reluctant. I mean, we’ve all see those people rolling about various cities on those silly-looking Segways. And, let’s face it, they look like mall cops. But, at the same time, they look kinda cool, right? I mean, we might not ever make it to the Jetsons but a Segway is at least in the same area code; all futuristic and such. So, yeah, I had mixed emotions when the folks at Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism board, suggested my wife, Barbara, and I take a two-hour tour through Millenium Park and environs the Read more
