Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort, is a beautiful property nestled between the Pitons on the southwest shore of St. Lucia. The spa is built in a rainforest, with thatched huts and wonderful treatments. The beach is outstanding, too. Nature fans on St. Lucia will want to check out Diamond Falls and botanical gardens, as well as the drive-in volcano. Here are some photos I hope you’ll enjoy.
Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort , is snuggled between the towering rock formations known as the Pitons. The resort has stunning villas and one of St. Lucia’s best beaches.
The spa at Sugar Beach resort is fantastic, with treatment rooms contained in thatched huts in a rainforest. You’ll feel like a million bucks after a Swedish massage and a dip in a warm, private pool. No swimsuit required.
The landscaping at Sugar Beach is gorgeous, with tropical plants galore and a lovely, Caribbean feel.
All villas at Sugar Beach come with a private pool, where you can relax your day away and take a dip whenever the mood strikes.
There’s world class snorkelling just a few feet off shore of the beach at Sugar Beach. After your swim, grab a cold drink or order your lunch and dine under a thatched-roof umbrella.
Guests at Sugar Beach can get rides around the property on adorable, colourful carts. Young girls seem to enjoy the pink one, I’m told.
Not far from Sugar Beach is St. Lucia’s drive-in volcano, where you’ll find pots of bubbling hot water and mud. The volcano is carefully monitored for seismic activity, so it’s considered quite safe to visit.
Diamond Falls and botanical gardens is a great place to take your sweetheart. They filmed part of “Romancing the Stone,” here, as well as scenes from “Superman II.”
The tropical flowers and trees at Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens are a gardener’s dream.

We’ve sold the Toronto home, are moving to Creemore next month; all that’s left is for my hubby to retire, later this year. On the agenda: lots more travel. I’ve been scanning your site for ideas on a driving/golf trip to Nova Scotia & PEI this September. (Ashamed to say I’ve never been east of Quebec). Also planning a long overdue trip to St Lucia next winter. Was happy to read your enthusiastic review of Sugar Resort as it is, so far, my #1 choice. (Btw, I went to high school with Barb. Tell her Chris Olsen says hello.) (Not sure if you ever knew my Dad, Bob Olsen. He’s long retired but was a photographer at the Star for 26 years.) Always enjoy your writing & am a big fan of your Twitter feed.
