All rooms at One&Only Palmilla have ocean views. You’ll also find a lovely mix of modern and traditional Mexican design, with plenty of splashes of colour.
My recent stay at One&Only Palmilla was my first-ever trip to the Cabo San Lucas area of Mexico. And it was my first-ever exposure to the One&Only Resort brand.
I hope it won’t be the last for either.
It was just three nights, but I have to say I was HUGELY impressed by what I saw and felt (and ate and drank) during my stay last week. The only resorts I’d been to in Mexico prior to this trip were in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area, so that was my frame of reference. No offence to that area, as I love the beaches and the Mayan ruins, but the Cabo San Lucas area is so much more striking.
One fellow I chatted with during my stay said he moved to the area with his kids from Cancun a few years ago. He said their biggest reaction was the size of the mountains.
Even a studied geographic nerd like myself was surprised to see the mountains as high and rugged as they are in the Cabo San Lucas area. I hadn’t thought about it, I guess, but they’re quite imposing. Not as high as Palm Springs, but kinda similar looking. And it makes for a very impressive show when you see the dry rocks and mountains plunging down to the deep blue-green sea. Which might be why folks such as George Clooney have built homes in the area.

Take a trip on One&Only Palmilla’s private yacht for a great view of the famous Cabo San Lucas coastline.
Mind you, staying at a place like One&Only puts you in a good enough frame of mind that you’d probably enjoy Toronto in a January deep freeze. The rooms (all with ocean views) are exquisitely furnished in a casual but elegant Mexican style, the grounds are immaculate and lushly landscaped, the beach is wonderful (if a bit rough at times) and the food and drink are as good as any resort I’ve ever been to. Rather than go on and on about the place, I’m posting a series of photographs from the resort, which was badly damaged by Hurricane Odile last fall but was given a massive facelift and reopened just recently.
By the way, they also have some deals in place at the moment, including a package where you stay four nights and pay for three and another where you stay seven nights and pay for just five.
Here are some pictures to whet your appetite a little more….
