The New Zealand Government today (March 16, 2022) announced the country’s borders will reopen on May 1 at 11:59 pm allowing international manuhiri (visitors) from visa waiver countries, including Canada and the U.S., to travel to Aotearoa (New Zealand) without needing to self-isolate on arrival. From May 1 travelers will be able to travel to New Zealand without self-isolation on provision of a negative pre-departure test.   After a hiatus due to the global pandemic, passengers will once again travel swiftly by sea between the U.S. and Canada starting May 19, 2022. Bay Ferries is excited to restore high speed catamaran service between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbor, Maine, enabling travellers to conveniently explore two beautiful sides of the border. The CAT high-speed ferry, which completes the crossing in approximately 3.5 hours, starts May 19 operating four days per week, increasing to seven days a week on June 23. There’s good news for cruise fans and lovers of the Caribbean. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lowered its risk assessment rating for cruise ships, as well as for such popular Caribbean destinations as Jamaica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and The Bahamas. The CDC’s website says it bumped cruise travel from level three (high levels of COVID) to level two (moderate levels) on Monday, March 14.
