Toronto holds down most of the top spots in the latest list of the top 100 restaurants in Canada, but Vancouver fared quite well, and Calgary made a big splash.
Ten of the top 20 restaurants on the latest Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants List are in Ontario, with eight in Toronto. Vancouver had three in the top 20, all of them in the top 10, including number one and number three. Calgary had three in the top 20, coming in at positions 10, 12 and 18. Major Tom in Calgary, which was ranked 12th overall in Canada, was named best new restaurant in the country.
Six of the top 20 new restaurants in Canada are in Calgary, four of them in the top 10, while seven are in Toronto (four in the top six).
The MICHELIN guide recently announced it’s coming to Toronto this fall. That will mark the first time the prestigious restaurant guide has reviewed restaurants in a Canadian city.
This is the first time a Vancouver restaurant was ranked number one in the country. This year also marks the first time a Calgary dining spot has won Best New Restaurant.
