May 29th to June 4th marks Tourism Week in Canada, and Burlington, Ontario is a great place to check out.
“Travel has slowly started to return, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to Burlington, Ontario this summer,” tourism officials said. “This is good news for Burlington’s tourism businesses, after two unprecedented years, and they look forward to serving residents and visitors.”
Tourism in Canada was a $105 billion industry sector employing approximately 1.8 million workers, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many communities, tourism and hospitality was the first and hardest hit sector, which will take the longest to recover. In Burlington, businesses experienced the same, however, the industry worked together with great resilience.
“The tourism industry and local small businesses are vital to the economy and it has been wonderful to see how resilient the industry has been in the face of these challenges,” says Executive Director, Kristene Smith. “So, this Tourism Week, we are celebrating our industry for its passion, flexibility, and innovation.”
Tourism Burlington is pleased to launch a new guide to Burlington, in print and digitally. This guide is developed for residents and visitors, featuring information and businesses just waiting to be discovered. The 48-page full-colour guide includes inspiration from Locals sharing their favourite things in Burlington, 5 Ways to Discover Burlington, Golfing and Cycling in Burlington, Healthy Living, Local Flavours, Sweet Treats, and more.
Kelly Harris, Manager of Marketing & Special Projects comments, “We are excited to once again produce our guide in print. This guide is our best to date, visually appealing, and features key information that will allow both visitors and residents to experience something new in Burlington.”
The guide is also available digitally with video links.
Diverse experiences are key, as we want to provide experiences for everyone. That is why Tourism Burlington launched the A to Z Trail of Burlington earlier this year. The program runs for the entire year. All are encouraged to sign up on the Tourism Burlington website for this free web-based passport featuring more than 26 different places to explore (some with great deals).
Check-in when at each location on your passport for your chance to win a 1-night stay at the beautiful new Pearle Hotel & Spa (which is spectacular, by the way).
Tourism Burlington invites you to tag them in your social posts while experiencing the A to Z Trail using #BurlONAtoZ for your chance to win gift cards from local businesses. Bonus entries if you hold up a copy of the new Visitor Guide in your photo!
The digital guide can be found on the Tourism Burlington website: tourismburlington.com and print copies are available at the Visitor Information Centre at 414 Locust Street, Burlington.
