The Toronto Star is reporting that the Justin Trudeau government may end Canada’s border vaccine mandate, and could scrap the heavily criticized ArriveCAN app.
Star columnist Althia Raj reports that Ottawa is “considering turning the page on pandemic-era restrictions by ending the COVID-19 vaccination mandate at the border and scrapping random testing requirements.”
Raj said the Trudeau cabinet hasn’t made a final decision, “but several sources confirmed ministers will soon weigh in on a move that could also spell the end of the unpopular ArriveCAN app.”
Ending the vaccine mandate would allow visitors to flow freely into Canada, something that would gladden the hearts of the Canadian travel and tourism industry, which accounts for one of every ten jobs across the country. Border mayors and others who rely on tourism dollars to stay in business also would be jubilant if the ArriveCAN. were to disappear, as they argue it’s confusing and discourages Americans and other would-be visitors from taking a trip to Canada.
Eliminating vaccine mandates also would be a boon for unvaccinated Canadians, who can now be fined up to $5,000 for entering the country without proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Unvaccinated travellers also face 14-day quarantines and the possibility of on-arrival testing for the virus.
CTV News states the ArriveCAN app “was introduced early in the pandemic and its use has been mandatory at air and land borders since February 2021 with exceptions in cases of accessibility issues or outages.
“ArriveCan ostensibly screens incoming travellers for COVID-19 and for the last year tracked their vaccination status. Refusing to use the app to provide required information can result in a fine of up to $5,000,” the network said.
The CBC reports that the number of road trips Americans made to the country over the past two months was still down by 45 per cent compared to the same period in 2019, according to Statistics Canada.

It has been a road of absolute tyranny the last 2/3 years. All of our rights have been violated , and completely unlawful under the guise of a virus . What is really a money grab for the elite and government and a boot on our necks for power by the government . Hopefully Canadians are still waking up and will fight for their freedoms for future generations .
The guise of a virus? I’m sure all the thousands of folk who died of Covid will question that theory.
That said, I agree ArriveCan should now go.
Matter of facts, the arriveCAN it ISN’T mandatory for Canadian citizens, permanent residents, people under the indian cat and people under some specific exemptions.
The $5000 fines are BOGUS intimidation tactics in order to scare and make people comply with arrivecan, matter of facts the fines can be easily opposed to a court with no expenses.
furthermore the “covid test” is an ILLEGAL action, as the Canada Quarantine act at section 14.1 also says that to “determine whether a traveller has a communicable disease or symptoms of one, use any screening technology authorized by the Minister that does not involve the entry into the traveller’s body of any instrument or other foreign body.”

weren’t able to download the vaccination proof, but we
had the paper proof, but were never asked when entering Canada,
and we rec’d a message in the cell that we had to be quarantied for 14 days upon enetering Canada
We also called the border, a few times, and received all kinds of different things to do. One person told us just ignore the phone calls.
What !!!we have four doses of the vaccine. They also want us to go for the molecular test for day 1, and day 8. Can you beleive this. What are we criminals !!!
