Sheraton Montreal Restoration Brings Back a Grand Canadian Hotel

A grand dame of Montreal hotels has been given a stylish makeover.

Le Centre Sheraton Montreal, located in the heart of the city, is practically a brand new hotel, with top-to-bottom renovations recently completed.

They’ve given the newly designed rooms a warm, residential feel, which is very welcoming. Our room on a recent stay was done up in cool shades of taupe and grey. We had a comfy chair in the corner and also one of the new Sheraton work tables, which has electrical outlets and phone charging outlets on top and can be moved up and down; allowing you to stand at your desk or sit, whichever you prefer. Great concept.

There were tons of outlets and charging stations for our devices, which is always appreciated, as well as a hand mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The bathroom had a single sink, with tons of storage space on either side, and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. The grey marble shower was lovely and spacious, and we had considerably more water pressure than most hotels offer these days.

The 825 rooms range in size from a generous 310 square feet (quite good for a downtown hotel) to 1,956 sq ft for the Presidential Suite.

One of the great features at Le Centre Sheraton is the new Sheraton Club Lounge, which is a terrific gathering spot on the 37th floor with fine city views and plenty of places to sit and chat, or work on your own. They also had a series of rounded, cubicle-like chairs that offer privacy.

The lounge is done up in warm earth tones, with lots of wood, high ceilings, and dramatic lighting. When we stopped by in the early evening they had veggies and salads for nibbling, as well as olives, pickles, miniature grilled cheese sandwiches, luscious chocolates and other desserts, and more. When we went back after dinner we found chips and breakfast bars, which are handy if you have to get an early start on your day. Drinks are available for an extra charge, including vodka, tequila, Canadian Club, Balvenie Scotch, and other offerings.

We went back for breakfast the next morning and enjoyed a fine breakfast, including cappuccino, fresh fruit, yogurt paraits, cereals and more.

The hotel also boasts an indoor lap pool, a Jacuzzi, and a fitness centre that’s open 24/7. The sixth floor terrace is perfect for a sunny day in the city, with comfortable seating and green plants all around.
The spa, Studio Pressurat, offers individual or couples massages; which are a great way to wind down after a few busy days in the city.

The Café Bar, the hotel’s signature restaurant, is nestled inside a lovely, glass atrium with enormously high ceilings. It’s a great spot for a cocktail or a meal, and you feel very much engaged with the city around you.

It’s great for leisure, but the hotel also knows how to do business, with 51,000 square feet of flexible event and conference space.
Le Centre Sheraton Montreal is conveniently located in the heart of downtown. Place Ville Marie is only a couple blocks from the hotel, and the Bell Centre, home of the fabled Montreal Canadiens, is just a slapshot away.

“Conveniently located in the bustling city center, the hotel is an ideal starting point to discover all Montreal has to offer, in a refreshingly contemporary environment,” said Christopher Spear, Director, Sales & Marketing, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel.

The remake of Le Centre Sheraton Montreal is part of a larger brand refresh for Sheraton in Canada. The Sheraton Centre Toronto also has been given a beautiful facelift, as has the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Toronto Pearson, which I wrote about last year.
“These hotels join the growing number of properties around the world exemplifying the brand’s design transformation, with nearly 50 hotels expected to be completed by year’s end,” Sheraton officials said.

“This marks another significant moment for Sheraton as our new vision arrives in Canada and continues to build momentum for our transformation journey around the world,” said Amanda Nichols, Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “We have long been part of the social fabric of communities across Canada and as travel resumes, we look forward to welcoming guests into this exciting new chapter for Sheraton.”

Drawing on its roots as a community hub for locals and guests, the new approach for Sheraton creates an intuitive and holistic experience with spaces to connect, be productive, and help travelers feel connected to the local community. In addition to seamless technology integration and an elevated food and beverage philosophy, the layered design balances a sense of timelessness with a fresh and modern feel, that aims to create an environment where guests feel comfortable and at ease, whether working, meeting or relaxing.
