Sleeping With Strangers and Avoiding In-Laws: Americans Share Their Travel Secrets

Almost one in ten Americans admit to sleeping with strangers on vacation. And roughly one in five hate going on holidays with their in-laws.

A study by Play USA looked at American travel habits for trips to Las Vegas and other destinations, and found U.S. residents can get a little rowdy when they’re away from home.

Nearly one in 10 said they slept with a stranger in Vegas, and 17% regretted it. Twenty per cent of respondents admitted they behaved worse than they would have at home, with 10% saying they were embarrassed by their behavior.

Half of the respondents (1,000 people were surveyed) said they had gotten drunk on vacation, while nearly one in five said they did drugs.

One in three people said they prefer to travel with their significant other, while nearly one in two said they like taking vacations with friends.

One in five respondents said they hate going on holidays with their mother (awww, that’s terrible). The same percentage said they hate going on vacation with their in-laws. Only about 15% said they’d like to vacation without their father.(Hmmmm….)

One in four people said they regret the cost of their vacations, and 48% said they’ve cut back on 2023 vacation plans due to financial concerns.

Eight in ten (81%) said they gambled in Las Vegas with the average person spending $487. More than 25% of those ended up gambling away their winnings.
