Air Canada has teamed up with Bell to bring its customers new benefits that make it even easier to stay in touch both on the ground and in the skies. And live TV is coming soon to Air Canada flights to the U.S.
Air Canada Aeroplan members now receive free in‑flight texting so they can message friends, family and colleagues over Wi‑Fi, while they fly.
To use this service, make sure your Aeroplan number is associated with your booking before you complete check-in. Travelling with friends or family? If they are on your booking, they can enjoy free texting too.
Free in‑flight texting is available on all Wi‑Fi equipped aircraft across the Air Canada fleet, including Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express flights.
Connect on board to send and receive text-based messages using popular message apps including Apple’s iMessage, Meta’s WhatsApp and Messenger, Rakuten’s Viber, and Messages by Google. Note that photos, videos, VoIP, attachments, and SMS are not currently supported.
And it doesn’t stop there. Coming later this summer, you never have to miss a big game or your favourite show with the expansion of Live TV service on Air Canada flights to the U.S.

It is very dishonest of them to call it text messaging when it actually isn’t. It is messaging via 3rd party apps.
