Barbie Movie Inspires Pink Travel: Here Are Great Options in California, Florida and Hawaii

The new Barbie movie is inspiring pink-themed parties and clothing. It’s also sparking interest in pink-themed travel, which is good news for colorful hotels in California, Hawaii and Florida, as well as Bermuda and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

I also have news on a poll that suggests American and Canadian travelers are frustrated about a lack of airline reliability.

Here are some fun pink travel options:

Boca Raton Resort and Club, Florida

This is a stunning and luxurious spot on the Atlantic side of the Sunshine State, north of Miami. Barbie and Ken would love a couples massage at the hotel spa, which I got to enjoy a few years ago.

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Hawai’i

This is one of the original hotels on fabled Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, a deep-pink, regal hotel that would be perfect for a Barbie and Ken wedding. The poolside mai tai’s are to die for.

Pink beaches in Bermuda

This set of Atlantic Ocean islands (an easy flight from Toronto, New York and other Eastern cities) feature lovely, pink sand beaches, as well as houses in pink, yellow, vivid blue and other vibrant shades.

Grand Hyatt, Malaysia

The Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur has a “Barbie Staycation” special on offer. The deal includes an afternoon tea experience with their all-new Barbie Pink Teatime In A Box for two, with complimentary Surprise Barbie doll. www.barbiestaycation.com.

The Beverly Hills Hotel, California

A stunning bit of pink architecture that has been entertaining Hollywood celebrities for decades. The Polo Lounge is a legendary spot to see and be seen. The hotel is part of the fabulous Dorchester Collection, which also includes the sumptuous Hotel Bel-Air in West Los Angeles.

Pink Palm Hotel, U.S. Virgin Islands

This magnificent property opened in March 2023 in the heart of the islands’ capital city Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas, and features one of the most magical and beautiful views of the city’s waterfront harbor.

Cobblers Cove, Barbados

This is a seaside home that was converted to a hotel in 1968. Barbados has some of the best food and top beaches in the Caribbean. Because even Barbie gets hungry, and we know Ken loves to surf.

The Don Cesar, Florida

Located on St. Pete Beach on the gulf coast, this is another pink beachfront beauty. Ask for a room overlooking the water so you can enjoy a pink and orange sunset.

The Ritz Carlton Abama, Canary Islands

Located on Tenerife in the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, the property has a vibrant pink coat and seven swimming pools.

Pink’s Hot Dogs, Los Angeles

This is a great spot on La Brea Avenue in mid-town Los Angeles, with hot dogs named after Hollywood stars and pink-and-white umbrellas on a patio out back.

NEW STUDY REVEALS FRUSTRATED US AND CANADIAN TRAVELERS

A new Leger poll finds Americans and Canadians seem frustrated with the airline industry.

Leger said Americans (46%) are more likely than Canadians (39%) to think airlines are reliable in terms of adhering to their departure and arrival schedules.  Which means that 54% of Americans and 61% of Canadians think airlines are NOT reliable.

The company’s polling also found that 59% of Canadians and 52% of Americans who have taken at least one flight in the last year have experienced flight delays. 21% and 20% respectively have experienced flight cancellations.

Leger said 56% of Canadians and 35% of Americans agree that they are trying only to book direct flights going forward due to concerns over flight delays and missed connections.

Other poll highlights:

  • A nearly identical proportion of Canadians (35%) and Americans (34%) plan to go on vacation this summer.
  • More Canadians (33%) than Americans (20%) indicate that inflation and the current economic climate have impacted their vacation plans this year.
