Porter Launches Toronto-Tampa Flights Today, Hyatt Expanding Across Canada

 

Canadians have a great new way to get to one of the top destinations in Florida.

Porter Airlines today launched daily, roundtrip service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Tampa.

This is the first U.S. route operated by any airline with the state-of-the-art Embraer E195-E2. Porter is the North American launch customer for Embraer’s newest family of E2 jets. The 132-seat, all-economy aircraft has a two-by-two configuration, which means no middle seat on any Porter flight. 

Porter passengers also enjoy free WiFi, a selection of premium snacks, and free beer and wine served in glassware. Priority check-in, extra legroom seats, premium pre-mixed cocktails, and fresh, healthy meals are also available with the all-inclusive PorterReserve fares or for purchase à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

Tampa is the first of five destinations and seven routes that Porter is starting across Florida this fall. Service includes Toronto Pearson to Tampa, Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and Miami (MIA); as well as Ottawa International Airport (YOW) to Fort Lauderdale  and Orlando.

This is the first U.S. route operated by any airline with the state-of-the-art Embraer E195-E2.

Porter is the North American launch customer for Embraer’s newest family of E2 jets. The 132-seat, all-economy aircraft has a two-by-two configuration, which means no middle seat on any Porter flight. The E2 is the most environmentally-friendly single-aisle aircraft family, measured by sound and CO2 emissions. It is certified to the strictest international standard for aircraft noise, at 65% quieter than previous generation types.

HYATT DOUBLING CANADIAN FOOTPRINT

Hyatt is on track to double its brand footprint in Canada with an additional 23 hotels opening around the country by 2026.

This significant expansion includes newly announced deals for luxury and lifestyle hotels, including:

  • A new hotel opening in the beautiful Okanagan Valley wine country of British Columbia, which will be the second Canadian property in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand.
  • Hyatt Centric Winnipeg Downtown (2025): The lifestyle hotel will offer 140 modern guestrooms and suites, approximately 1,200 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant and bar and an open concept lobby that will capture the local spirit and inspire guests.
  • Hyatt Centric Victoria – Old Town (2026): The property will be the first Hyatt branded hotel in Victoria, B.C. and will offer 135 rooms and suites, and dynamic food and beverage options including a restaurant, bar, lounge and coffee shop.
  • Hyatt House Port Elgin (2026) will be located in close proximity to some of the most idyllic sandy beaches on Lake Huron in Ontario.
  • Hyatt Place Whitehorse (2025) will provide the ideal home base for adventurers looking to explore the vast and breathtaking Yukon wilderness.
