A Great New Way to Get to Sensational Singapore: First AC Direct Flight From Vancouver Has Landed

Americans and Canadians have a great new way to reach the sensational Asian destination of Singapore.

Air Canada’s much anticipated route launched from its Vancouver (YVR) Pacific hub last night and arrived this morning in Singapore, marking the inaugural of the airline’s newest international route and the only non-stop flight between Canada and Singapore. Stretching 12,818 kilometres (7,965 miles), the route is the airline’s longest flight measured by distance with a flying time of up to 16 hours and five minutes.

The airline will operate flights on the route four times weekly, with service departing from Vancouver on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It will depart from Singapore on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Singapore is a terrific destination in Asia; with fabulous food of all kinds, vibrant markets, stylish hotels, great shopping and a diverse population that includes Chinese, Malaysians, Indians and many more cultures. The temples are beautiful sanctuaries, and the mix of cuisines is enough to make any food lover’s head spin. There are also spectacular hotels, such as the Marina Bay Sands, The Four Seasons (I’ll be there in a couple weeks), and Raffles, where the famous Long Bar serves up their original Singapore Sling cocktail. Here’s a piece I wrote about the destination a while back.
