Muskoka Steamships and Muskoka Discovery Centre: Fabulous Experiences in Ontario, Canada

They have an exciting few months ahead at the Muskoka Discovery Centre and onboard their ships. If you haven’t visited yet, be sure to check out the new exhibit, The Muskoka Story, and treat yourself to an afternoon cruise on Wenonah II

The Muskoka Story includes Misko-Aki, a Confluence of Cultures. The exhibit won an award for Outstanding Achievement in Exhibitions from the Canadian Museums Association (CMA). There were more than 25 organizations under consideration in a multi-juried process with criteria including potential impact and connection with community.

The Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre in Gravenhurst, Ontario (I’m a member of the board of directors) also has announced that Wanda III – a beautiful wooden boat once owned by the Eaton family – is in the final stages of her restoration, and that they look forward to sailing soon. Click here to read the story of Wanda II.

They’re still fundraising for Wanda’s electrification, so if you’d like to help, please click here.

Currently, the RMS Segwun is docked for air pump repairs. They anticipate having her ready for testing in a few weeks, with plans to resume cruises on a shortened schedule shortly after. The Royal Mail Ship Segwun dates to 1887 and is the oldest operating steamship in North America; a real beauty.
