August 30 is National Beach Day, and Canadians have a huge number of great beaches to chose from.
To find out which were best, online review site CanadaCasino.ca analyzed the number of positive reviews received, Instagram posts, average monthly search volumes, and the average water temperature in peak summer, to reveal which are the best beaches Canada has to offer.
Wasaga Beach is not only the third warmest beach of those analyzed, it is also one of the most popular. Home to the largest freshwater beach in the world, Wasaga Beach receives 90,500 searches every month and has been posted over a quarter of a million times against its hashtag on Instagram. Research suggests that you will not be disappointed if you choose to visit this beach, with 80% of the reviews posted about this destination being positive.
Brackley Beach, located within the PEI National Park, follows closely behind. The beach may be less popular; with only 7,952 Instagram posts and 5,400 Google searches a month from Canadians, but 97% of visitors rate their experience as excellent or very good. Impressed visitors have praised its beauty and facilities, with one commenting “It’s a beautiful, sandy beach. There are washrooms and outdoor showers to wash off the sand and salt water. There is plenty of parking as well.”
Kitsilano Beach in British Columbia sits in third place. While it is the coolest of the three beaches (in the heat of summer, that is), it receives the second best reviews, with 90% being positive. One visitor highlighted the beach’s “spectacular views of the Vancouver high-rises and mountains.”

For those of you keeping score at home, that’s eight out of 15 for British Columbia, three for Ontario, two for PEI, and one each for New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
I would add Lawrencetown Beach in Nova Scotia, which has good surfing, and also Erieau Beach on Lake Erie in Ontario. I also like Regina Beach in Saskatchewan.
