Tripadvisor 2025 Best in Travel Awards; New York City, London, Vancouver and Hawaii Win Big

The 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2025 are out, and some of the big winners include The Big Apple, London, Hawaii, Vancouver and California.

Each year, Tripadvisor pores over millions of reviews shared by a global community of travelers to uncover the most trusted recommendations, helping future explorers create unforgettable memories on their next adventure.

This year, readers chose London as world’s best city, New York City as the top metropolis in the United States, and Vancouver as the best city in Canada.

The best hotel in the U.S. for this year is the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica, California; a fine place I stayed in several years ago. The best hotel in  Canada for 2025 is the Wedgewood Hotel and Spa in Vancouver, where I’m heading a week from today.

If you’re a foodie, you’ll want to know that Tripadvisor readers named Rome the world’s best food city, followed by London, Marrakech, Paris and Naples. (Tripadvisor readers obviously love pizza and pasta.) New Orleans was named top food city in the U.S., followed by Charleston, New York City, Savannah and Asheville, North Carolina. (I’m sorry, but I can’t see Savannah or Charleston being above Los Angeles or San Francisco – which came 10th – or Miami or Las Vegas.)

Below are some of their notable lists for the year.

St. Vincent and Grenadines Set New Tourism Record

The island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is emerging as the destination to watch in the Caribbean with a record-breaking growth rate in stay over arrivals, up some 25% from its previous year on year numbers.

Statistics show stayover arrivals reached 101, 471 people in 2024; the first time the country has gone above 100,000 arrivals. That represents a 25.6% increase from last year, and a 39% increase from 2019, one of the country’s best years prior to the global health pandemic.

I had a fabulous visit to St. Vincent and the island of Bequia eight or ten years ago. I stopped in for a brief visit to Bequia and to the beautiful island of Mayreau on a Sea Dream Yacht Club cruise a few years after that. If you’re looking for a Caribbean destination that’s quiet and relatively unexplored, this is it.
