Air Canada Named Best North America Airline; Cracks Top 20 World Airline List + Major Awards for Porter and Transat

Air Canada has been named Best Airline in North America for the second year in a row. It also has cracked the world’s top 20 airlines, coming in 19th in the highly reputable Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Air Canada came home with nine major awards this year:

Best Airline in North America

Most Family Friendly Airline in North America

Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering in North America

Best Business Class Onboard Catering in North America

Best Cabin Crew in North America

Best Cabin Crew in Canada

Best Business Class Lounge North America (Toronto Pearson)

Best Business Class Airline Lounge Catering (Toronto Pearson)

Best Leisure Airline, North America (Air Canada Rouge)

Air Canada was ranked 29th in the world in last year’s Skytrax rankings, so jumping ten spots is a big achievement.

“We are tremendously proud that Air Canada has been named the Best Airline in North America at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards. I thank our customers, the people who know our products and services best, for voting for us and for their loyalty in choosing to fly with Air Canada,” said Michael Rousseau, President and Chief Executive Officer at Air Canada.

Canada’s Porter Airlines was named best regional airline in North America, and came third in the world.  It was also named third best airline in North America, giving Canada two spots in the top three.

Air Transat was named Worlds’ Best Leisure Airline for the seventh time, and for the third year in a row. Air Transat also was named best Leisure Airline in North America and seventh best overall airline in North America.

WestJet came ninth in the best North America airline category.

Skytrax named Qatar Airways as the World’s Best Airline for 2025, followed by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways.
