Visit Buffalo Niagara is launching a new campaign to celebrate the region’s strong cross-border ties with Canada. Timed to debut on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1, the campaign carries a clear message of friendship and appreciation: “Buffalo Loves Canada.”
As part of the celebration, a new billboard featuring the “Buffalo Loves Canada” logo will appear along the QEW near Toronto, welcoming Canadian travelers and reminding them of Buffalo’s enduring connection to its northern neighbors. In addition, downtown Buffalo landmarks will be illuminated in red that evening in partnership with the City of Buffalo to mark Canada’s national holiday. VBN is also running a $500 Visa gift card “Buffalo Loves Canada” giveaway for its Canadian neighbors that can be found at www.buffalolovescanada.com.
Visit Buffalo Niagara is encouraging local businesses and residents to join in the celebration online by sharing the “Buffalo Loves Canada” graphic on social media on Canada Day alongside a message of support. Locals can draw on messaging examples developed by the New York State Tourism Industry Association, found here.

“This campaign is a reminder that Canadians are not only our visitors — they’re our friends, our neighbors, and part of the shared community that has defined life on both sides of the border for generations,” said Patrick Kaler, president and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara. “We cherish the memories we’ve made together and look forward to many more.”
The “Buffalo Loves Canada” campaign underscores the deep social, cultural and economic bonds that unite Western New York and Canada — and celebrates the region’s commitment to cross-border collaboration and friendship.
