Valentine’s Day Is Almost Here: Great Destinations, Canadian Hotel Deals and Romantic Toronto Restaurants

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, which makes it a perfect time to fire up the romance quotient with a weekend getaway to a great hotel, or a fine meal at a top restaurant. Here are some suggestions from Skyscanner on romantic places to visit.  I also have some deals I found for Canadian hotels and restaurants, as well as some in the U.S.

SKYSCANNER VALENTINE’S DAY SUGGESTIONS

Skyscanner’s recent Travel Trends 2026 Report revealed that an overwhelming one in two people choose to travel not merely to see new places, but explicitly to reconnect with loved ones and build shared experiences.

Rather than defaulting to those tried and tested Valentine’s Day gifts (that often fade from memory), an adventure abroad could be the enduring gift that builds memories and refreshes a relatiohship.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Skyscanner has highlighted the destinations and last-minute deals that are sure to leave a mark on the heart and the memory.

Lyon, France

Often called the culinary capital of France, Lyon is built for couples who bond over food, wine, and wandering. Think candlelit bistros, riverside strolls along the Rhône and Saône, and cozy evenings in the Old Town. It’s a romantic alternative to Paris, with just as much charm and fewer crowds.

Saint Lucia

For couples craving a classic romance reset, Saint Lucia delivers big. Volcanic landscapes, warm Caribbean waters and dramatic sunsets over the Pitons create an effortlessly intimate backdrop. Perfect for couples who want equal parts relaxation and awe-inspiring scenery. (Editor’s note: Jade Mountain is a particularly romantic place to stay.)

Victoria, B.C.

A romantic getaway closer to home, Victoria shines for low-key, meaningful date nights. Harbour walks at golden hour, boutique hotels, cozy cocktail bars and coastal dining make it ideal for couples looking to reconnect without a long-haul flight.
