The planned re-opening of West Maui for October 8 appears to be partly in doubt. Hawai’i Governor Josh Green last month declared that the West Maui communities of Kā‘anapali, Nāpili, Honokōwai, and Kapalua will fully reopen on Sunday, October 8, two months after the August 8 wildfires that destroyed Lahaina. One of the top visitor destinations in Maui has already opened some of its resorts for visitors, and many others will open soon.   A spokeswoman for the Kaanapali Beach Resort Association  says a slew of properties will open October 8, and the final resorts should open by October 29.   Please practice responsible, mindful tourism, and DO NOT stop on the Lahaina bypass road.
