Maui

This lucky guy has finished up another year of great travel. From classic train journeys in Canada to Atlantic crossings on the Queen Mary 2, and from Florida to Hawaii to London, it’s been another incredible year. In what has become an annual tradition, here’s a look at my some of my favourite spots and photos from the year that was. Without further adieu, I give you Part 1 of the 2018 Jimmy Awards for great/weird/fun/engaging travel. BEST RESTAURANT: I ate in some remarkable places this year, but Don Alfonso 1890 in Toronto takes the proverbial cake. Incredibly creative, remarkably Read more

Just as autumn’s chill arrives, Hawaii is bringing plenty of sunshine and warmth to Canada. The Aloha Canada program touched down in Toronto on Wednesday (Oct. 23), with around 200 travel agents and travel lovers mingling and dining at the Toronto Congress Centre to hear updates on one of the world’s great destinations – and my personal favourite vacation spot on the planet. We pulled into the Read more

I drove them down because I love the drive thought he could take a cab to the Hana airport yesterday to get his flight to Kahului and then connect to a flight to the mainland. But we got to Hana and found out they have no cabs there. I should’ve thought of that as it’s a very small town. I’ve been many times but I stupidly didn’t think Read more

It never gets old. I’ve been to Maui I think 23 or 24 times now, but I never get tired of the beaches and the mountains and the views, not to mention the food and the towns and the fantastic golf at Kapalua. I thought about playing Kapalua’s Plantation course on my last visit but it’s pretty tough and I was organizing a family round with folks of varying ability. As much as I wanted to play the Plantation loop, where they just finished the Hyundai tournament of champions yesterday, we opted instead for the gentler but still fun Bay Read more
