Ontario residents have a new way to reach one of the world’s most popular destinations. Porter Airlines is expanding its Western Canada network with the addition of a non-stop route between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG).  The new route begins October 4, with one daily roundtrip flight operated on the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Introductory roundtrip fares start at $184. The Edmonton-Ottawa route offers a variety of connections to Eastern Canada via Ottawa.   U.S. Customs pre-clearance is finally coming to the Toronto Island/City Airport. Transport Minister Omar Alghabra today announce a federal government investment of up to $30 million to build a new preclearance facility at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport for United States-bound travellers. The new facility will build capacity for Toronto’s growing business and leisure passenger volumes transiting through Canada’s largest city. The centre is expected to take 18-24 months to complete and should open sometime in 2025. Air Canada picked up three awards at this year’s Skytrax Airline Awards ceremony, while  Air Transat and WestJet also picked up hardware.
