Porter Airlines is announcing its first flights to sun destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica this winter. It’s a major change for Porter, which has previously operated flights only within Canada and to the United States. It also gives Canadians and other travellers new ways to reach sunny destinations this winter. Canadian airlines have pretty much shut down winter service to battered St. Maarten. Puerto Rico is still in bad shape, as is Barbuda, Dominica and parts of other islands. But there was little or no damage to most major Caribbean destinations, including Jamaica, The Bahamas, Barbados, Antigua and the Cayman Islands.
