A new survey finds Ontario residents are eager to explore their own province and other areas of Canada. More than one-half are likely to visit another country, but not too many appear keen on trips to the US. A survey conducted by Context Research Group on behalf of Destination Ontario found that nearly nine in ten Ontario residents (87%) are likely to take an overnight pleasure trip within the province in the next year. Air Canada is marking the inauguration of its newest international flights linking Vancouver and Manila, solidifying the airline’s presence in Southeast Asia and supporting Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy. The launch of service to Manila also positions Air Canada as the North American airline serving the most destinations non-stop in Southeast Asia. Celebrations at the airline’s Vancouver/YVR hub were held on April 1 and again prior to the departure of AC017 at 01:55 on April 2. Air Canada is building its European service for summer, while Porter Airlines is betting big on summer flights within Canada. Canada’s largest airline today (March 31) announced it is adding a new route and boosting frequencies to popular Europe destinations for the upcoming summer travel season. New summer services from Montreal to Edinburgh will complement the carrier’s existing summer services from Toronto to the Scottish capital city.
