There are some new spots on the Dr. Beach list of top beaches in the United States and Hawaii takes three of the top seven places. Dr. Stephen Leatherman, who calls himself “Doctor Beach,” has put out his ranking of top beaches for 2024. And there’s a new King, or rather Duke, at the top. The latest ranking of countries for travel and tourism puts Canada just outside the top 10. The 2024 Travel and Tourism Development Index from the World Economic Forum gives top spot to the United States, followed by Spain and Japan. Canada came in 11th, receiving relatively low scores for tourism infrastructure, openness to travel and tourism, cultural resources and price competitiveness. A FINE EVENING AT CHELSEA HOTEL TORONTO (AND LES MISERABLES) We had tickets for Les Miserables at Mirvish’s Princess of Wales Theatre on Friday night. The show was ending at 10:30, which is a little late for me. But we had been given a night’s stay at the Chelsea Hotel Toronto, so we were able to grab a quick uber after the show and be at hotel by 10:45. A match made in heaven, you might say.
