I’ve been lucky enough to explore most corners of this vast country of ours. I’ve kicked around Quebec City, cycled around Calgary and even take a motorcycle sidecar tour of Halifax. I’ve also found more than a few places that I think deserve more attention than they get. Here’s a look at some of them. Golf and lobsters and Anne of Green Gables you probably know about. But there’s so much more to Prince Edward Island; cool shops and restaurants and bars in Charlottetown, fine distilleries and craft breweries, marvellous country inns and beautiful beaches. And much more. I haven’t had nearly enough time to explore the island as I’d like (especially the northern/western sections), but what I’ve seen I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. From one part of Canada to another. Last night the folks from the Calgary Stampede were in town, putting on a humdinger of a party at Rock ‘N’ Horse Saloon in downtown Toronto. The bar was a sea of white hats with red trim, and they had a smokin’ good band called Trinity Bradshaw. PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND – Sometimes in this job it’s easy to over-research a story. I don’t want to invest my working time on a hotel or a destination I won’t like, so it’s important for me to check things out in advance before I take a trip on behalf of the Star.
