Prince Edward Islanders now have year-round air access to the nation’s capital. Porter Airlines today is inaugurating flights between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Charlottetown Airport (YYG), while also confirming plans to serve the route year-round. As Porter arrives in Prince Edward Island, the airline now flies to all Atlantic provinces for the first time, reinforcing a commitment to building its presence in Eastern Canada. Porter is the only airline offering year-round, daily non-stop service between Charlottetown and Ottawa. Flair Airlines, Canada’s everyday low fare airline, today announced the expansion of its base at Region of Waterloo International Airport in southern Ontario. Flair announced service from Waterloo to Charlottetown and Saint John, both beginning in June. Charlottetown will be flown two times per week on Thursdays and Sundays, while St. John will be flown three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Service to Charlottetown Airport begins on June 9, with service to Saint John beginning on June 8.   Swoop Airlines is adding significantly more capacity in Atlantic Canada and Ontario as it adds a half-dozen new planes. The Calgary-based company “will significantly expand its domestic network, adding non-stop flights to Newfoundland and increasing service in Atlantic Canada,” officials said today. “The ULCC will also add six new routes and capacity in Ontario and the Prairies in preparation for Canada’s busy summer travel season. Prince Edward Island has joined Newfoundland & Labrador by bringing in required quarantine periods for visitors. In yet another setback for the Canadian travel and tourism industry, PEI leaders say that, as of today (Dec. 22) at 8 a.m., fully vaccinated visitors to the province will have to isolate for four days.  Every visitor who enters PEI will be given two rapid COVID-19 tests and must complete them on day two and day four.
