Canada Day is a week away, and that makes it great time to explore some of what this great country has to offer. Here are some tips from a guy who’s been to all ten provinces and the Yukon. VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA –  This is a tremendous and underrated Canadian city, with a lovely waterfront, beautiful parks and excellent food offerings. The James Bay neighbourhood is a fun place to check out little fairy houses that locals have built. Top hotels include the venerable Fairmont Empress Hotel and the fine Magnolia Hotel and Spa. Okay, I’ve just about had it with some of these travel lists going around. The other day I noted a list of the nine most beautiful countries in the world that somehow omitted the United States, which might have more amazing scenery than perhaps any country on the planet. TimeOut magazine asked 24,000 people in 150 cities around the world about their fave cities, and then balanced that with views from their team of city experts to come out with a new ranking. I’ll give them credit for including some smaller  or lesser-known destinations such as Bath, England and Antwerp, Belgium, as well as Lagos, Nigeria. But, for the life of me, I don’t know how ANYONE can come up with a list of great cities of the world and put Paris in the 22nd spot. That boggles Read more

According to travel app Skyscanner’s latest research, while 66% of Canadians are planning to head abroad in 2026, only 48% have taken the plunge and booked their flights. Destination indecision and concerns over cost are reported as the biggest booking barriers, as nearly half (45%) share they are still deciding on destination, and 43% are still trying to find the best deals.   Canadian travellers’ perception of flight pricing in 2026 is not the reality of the great value deals on offer. While 69% of Canadians think their round-trip flights are going to cost more than $500 this year, Read more
