The Yukon is the luckiest place to live in Canada, but Ontario’s good, too, and Prince Edward Island also scores well. Online gambling site Lucky Days analyzed seven varying factors to rank the luckiest place to live in Canada. Each province and territory was rated based on average life expectancy, hourly wage, population growth in the last five years, 2023 Consumer Price Index (CPI), unemployment rate, the rate of crime incidents per 100,000 people, and annual investment in residential construction per 100,000 residents. Pedestrians are getting a permanent break in Banff. Hawaii Tourism Boasts Strong Holiday Numbers. And indigenous tourism is poised for a Canadian boom. A few travel tidbits for today. BANFF PED ZONE NOW PERMANENT Banff’s popular downtown pedestrian zone is now a permanent feature in the wildly popular Alberta destination. Southern Ontario has a fabulous new attraction that the whole family can enjoy. After five years of planning and following an extensive fundraising effort that has seen more than $7.3 million raised to date, Muskoka Discovery Centre’s newly enhanced gallery space opened to the public this week. The 12,000 square foot gallery, The Muskoka Story: A Microcosm of Canada, features three unique exhibits, including the most significant contribution made to Indigenous culture in the region. Canada has a new tourism strategy aimed at cementing the country as a top global destination. The new strategy, announced today in Niagara Falls, “will unleash the full potential of Canadian tourism and cement Canada as a top global destination” through the following five priorities: Investing in Canada’s tourism assets Embracing recreation and the great outdoors Partnering to grow Indigenous tourism Attracting more international events Improving coordination through a federal ministerial council Attracting more international events would presumably help Canada’s biggest cities.
