Time Magazine (remember them?) is out with a list of its top 50 destinations for 2023. Some of my fave places made the list, including Vancouver, Vienna, surprising Tampa and the Caribbean island of Dominica, where I spent five days in January. Also making the list on the Canadian side of the ledger was Churchill, Manitoba, which I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting. Hurricane Nicole has moved out of The Islands Of The Bahamas and an all clear has been issued for the entire Northwest Bahamas. Effective at 5 a.m. today (Thursday, November 10), hurricane warnings for Grand Bahama, Abaco and The Berry Islands, as well as the tropical storm warning for Bimini, had all been discontinued. Just weeks after Hurricane Ian lashed the Gulf Coast of Florida, Tropical Storm Nicole is battering the Atlantic Coast. Heavy winds and massive waves pounded the coast north of Fort Lauderdale today, forcing evacuations and temporarily shutting down Walt Disney World in Orlando. WESH News in Florida said Disney parks closed Wednesday at 5 p.m. and will remain closed until at least noon today (Thursday, Nov. 10). A top union official is warning that there could be “significant delays” at Canada border points if travel picks up dramatically in the wake of travel restrictions being eased. Mark Weber, national president of the Customs and Immigration Union, said border agents are already slammed, and that a signiicant increase in travel will make things worse. The Canadian government announced on Monday that travel restrictions will be lifted on Saturday, October 1.
