Toronto Pearson Airport says security delays are improving significantly. Canadian residents returned from over 3.7 million trips abroad in August 2022, more than four times as many trips as were taken in August 2021. StatsCan says Canadian trips abroad were up 340.4% in August compared to last year. Still, the August 2022 figure was only 63.4% of the level in August 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. Canadians will soon have a new way to travel between two of the biggest cities north of the border. Starting in December 2022, Canada Jetlines will begin flights between Vancouver YVR and Toronto Pearson YYZ using an Airbus A320. Flying out of Toronto Pearson airport is about to get more expensive. The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) today (September 28) announced it will increase the aeronautical rates and the airport improvement fee (AIF) on January 1, 2023. These increases are a result of the high inflationary environment and ongoing impacts from COVID-19. The adjustment to the AIF will put Toronto Pearson in line with the current rates charged by other airports across Canada. Canada Jetlines will begin flights between Toronto and Calgary next month. Set for its debut on September 22, 2022, Canada Jetlines will begin operations with biweekly flights operating Thursdays and Sundays out of Toronto (YYZ) to Calgary (YYC). Flights will depart Toronto at 7:55 a.m. and then leave Calgary for the return flight at 11:40 MST. Frequency will increase to three flights per week, Thursdays through Sundays, starting October 13.
