Vancouver International Airport has once again been named Best Airport in North America as part of the Skytrax World Airport Awards. It also has cracked the list of the top airports in the world. YVR finished 10th in the world in the latest rankings from Skytrax. That’s up three spots from #13 last year, and up a solid seven places from 2024. I’m sorry, but this is absurd. MSN recently ran a story on the world’s most attractive countries. It’s a good list, but with one glaring exception; there’s no mention of the United States. Yes, I know Canadians (and residents of many other countries) aren’t feeling terribly well disposed towards the U.S. these days. As a Canadian citizen, albeit with U.S. roots, I fully understand. Here’s an interesting list; a look at the top cities in the world for seniors/grandparents. The folks at All Clear Travel, a company based in the UK, looked at a variety of factors, including crime/safety, walkability, weather and the number of accessible hotels. Europe took every spot in the top 10, with the Netherlands sweeping the 2-4 positions. North America fared relatively well, with seven spots in the top 30. I think Michelin does a fine job with its restaurant ratings, but I’m not sure about a list they recently published of 16 top foodie destinations for 2026. I can only assume these are destinations they like, or wished to highlight, versus the best destinations in the world.
