Porter Airlines’ new service in and out of London, Ontario YXU marks another step in its program of regional airport expansion in eastern Canada. Officials say it could even attract American fliers from across the border. Is the Canadian Elbows Up Movement losing steam? Statistics Canada this week reports that Canadian visits to the United States rose to 1.9 million last month. That’s up 9.5% from the same month in 2025. This marks the second month in a row that Canadian visits to the U.S. have gone up. A strong increase in Canadian domestic visits helped Montreal boost its visitor numbers by more than seven per cent last year. Tourisme Montréal today (Feb. 17) said the city attracted 11.8 million visitors last year, up 7.3% from 2024. Domestic travel continued to rise, with the Canadian market up 10%, fuelled by strong gains from several provinces, especially those in the Atlantic region (+17%).
