WestJet has reached a tentative agreement with workers in Calgary and Vancouver that should allow the airline to avoid a strike. WestJet and Unifor, the certified union representing certain WestJet airport employees at YYC Calgary International Airport and Vancouver International Airport, said they reached a tentative agreement late Sunday night on the first collective bargaining agreement between the organizations. Mandatory random testing of fully vaccinated travellers arriving at some Canadian airports will resume today. Ottawa paused mandatory random testing for those entering Canada by air on June 11, 2022, as part of a broader strategy to transition testing for air travellers outside of the airports. Lynx Air, Canada’s new ultra-affordable airline, took to the skies today, with its inaugural flight from Calgary to Vancouver. Lynx operates a fleet of three brand-new Boeing 737 aircraft and will ramp up quickly over the coming weeks.
